INSURANCE FRAUD DATA LAB · FREE PUBLIC SOURCES ONLY

What can public evidence establish about insurance fraud?

Track detected fraud, claims pressure, uninsured driving, vehicle crime, ghost broking and customer harm—without paid insurer, bureau or vendor data.

Evidence types: detection, reported cases and context
Direct fraud measure

A source explicitly records detected, confirmed or prevented fraud. It still measures detection, not every event that occurred.

Reported-case measure

A case or complaint count from a reporting system. Coverage depends on who reports and how records are classified.

Contextual indicator

A related exposure, claims or crime measure. It can test plausibility or pressure, but cannot establish fraud on its own.

METHOD & BOUNDARY

What this free-data lab will—and will not—claim.

Rules used in every analysis

  1. Keep source publication date, observation period and retrieval date separate.
  2. Never combine direct fraud, reported-case and contextual indicators into one fraud rate.
  3. Use the latest published vintage and disclose revisions instead of silently mixing releases.
  4. Compare adjacent fiscal and calendar periods only as contextual ratios, with the period mismatch visible.
  5. Treat anomalies as referrals for corroboration—not findings about a person, policy or claim.

Deliberately excluded

These sources may be operationally valuable, but they are not free public evidence and therefore do not enter this Lab’s analysis.

  • CUE and MIB Navigate / MIPD row-level records
  • MyLicence and other permissioned driving-record services
  • IFB member intelligence and shared insurer case records
  • Cifas National Fraud Database row-level records
  • Credit-reference, identity and device-intelligence feeds
  • Insurer quote, policy, claim and payment records
  • Vendor-reported savings or detection rates without an auditable public denominator
